Father’s Day? I’D RATHER NOT

June 16, 2017

It’s hard to believe that these words would be uttered by any father on this special day.  But then again, if you have ever suffered from a mental health illness, substance abuse, incarceration, homelessness, prolonged un-employment, or any other barrier that has kept you from enjoying the fruits of family and fatherhood, then odds are you’d rather simply make Father’s Day go away.

That, however, will not stop the ROC from acknowledging, encouraging, loving, and praying for our valued male clients.  Today (Friday, June 16, at 10AM) our ROC family of volunteers, staff, board members and clients join an army of Sam’s Club employees to celebrate all the fathers at ROC Central.  Breakfast, gifts, personalized cards, and lots of hugs for (I’m guessing around) 50 fathers at the ROC on their special day.

All of us experience roadblocks.  I encounter mine almost every day.  But that should never stop us from celebrating the beautiful life that our Father has created just for each of us.

Your gift to our ROC Fathers?  How about a simple prayer of encouragement?  “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”  Joshua 1:9

‘til next time…

God Bless,
